Insect Removal From Your Beaches Home

Types of Insects

The first step of insect removal from your Beaches home is knowing what type of insects you are likely to have invade your home and learning the potential risk each one poses. Here are three of the most common types of unwanted house guests:

Spiders

If your biggest fear is the spiders with long legs and the fat bodies, finding them in your house is probably the last thing you were hoping for! It is not uncommon to have a few spiders in your house throughout the year, and maybe even the occasional spider web. In particular, you may notice cellar spiders which show up in your basement, preferring to make their home in dark, damp places.

The other common types of spiders are house spiders, wolf spiders, and fishing spiders. Wolf spiders are unusual in that they do not build webs, but instead run around hunting for prey. Larger in size and dark brown, these are the ones you typically find in your garden or grasslands, and may have made their way in your house if you are surrounded by this type of vegetation or they are simply looking for a warm place to live! Similar to Wolf siders, fishing spiders don’t build a web either, but are fond of waterfronts, cottages and shorelines as opposed to woodlands and grass.

House spiders are commonly found within the house, garage, or small crawl spaces and are generally not harmful. In fact, most spiders are, and can be, a great natural killer for other common pests and do not need a lot of attention in terms of spider control. If, however, you are uncomfortable with the number you are finding in your house, or seem to have a particularly bad spider situation in your basement, calling up a professional spider removal service is the best thing to do to put your mind at ease.

Ants

Most of us are all too familiar with these annoying, little black crawling creatures, and are also well versed in the annual DIY elimination regime involving being extra vigilant with spills and crumbs, emptying the garbage, and keeping sticky substances wiped up off the counter.

It is worth it to know, however, that your biggest ant problem may not be the annoying black ones that you find crawling in your cupboard. Instead other types of ants, such as carpenter ants and pharaoh ants can present a much bigger – and more serious – risk to your home. Carpenter ants feed on wood and can leave a pattern of destruction behind them. Likewise, pharaoh ants chew through fibres and fabrics, and can also cause severe damage if left unchecked.

Suspicion of an ant invasion is not to be taken lightly. Contact a professional ant extermination service if you see evidence such as small piles of sawdust or chewed up fibres, and have the problem looked into.

Cockroaches

The dreaded cockroach showing up in your Beaches home is no joke. Spending most of their active time at night, and remaining quiet and still in the daytime, it can be some time before you even notice their presence. They like to live in dark, closed spaces, such as under counters, under appliances or in cupboards, and they feed off anything they can find – crumbs, spilled food and drinks, leftover food, and even things such as the grease or overspills in your oven. They especially like food that contains sugar and protein.

Cockroaches are not usually physically damaging to your home. They do, however, run the risk of spreading disease: they can contaminate your food with their waste or infect your kitchen surfaces due to the presence of bacteria which they may have on them from being in garbage cans, dumpsters, or other contaminated surfaces.

The most important part about a cockroach invasion is recognizing that removal alone is not enough – the environment must be physically changed, as simply spraying them with pesticides will not get rid of the problem. Eliminating cockroaches is an intensive and time-consuming process, and one that is definitely best done by a professional Beaches cockroach extermination service.

Preventing Further Insect Problems

Whether you have found a lot of these pests in your house or just a few, prevention is key in making sure you do not have continued problems, or to prevent the invasion from getting worse. When it comes to ants and cockroaches, much of the work can be done around food: be diligent in cleaning up spills, wiping down countertops, and removing crumbs. Put away dirty dishes and empty the garbage – both inside and outside – regularly.

One of the best methods of prevention is awareness. Check under cupboards, in dark corners and under appliances regularly for the insects to show up, and in the case of carpenter ants, look for the tell-tale wood pile signs. All of the problems with insect invasions are greatly exasperated when they go undetected for a long period, allowing them to multiply and establish a home in your home.

Steps To Get Rid Of Insects

Identifying the problem, enacting proactive preventative measures and being hyper-aware of your home situation are all the first steps of taking action, but ultimately, you want to eliminate the problem at the root cause.
